- the heritage of slavery and abolition
‘the slaves were people, just like us’
- pupil of Netherlee Primary School.
March 2007 was the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery and the trigger for a series of arts and history projects throughout East Renfrewshire, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The art of ‘Just Like Us’ provokes controversial questions about the history of Scotland, creates empathy for people from many parts of the world and respect for human rights by understanding a key era in their definition.
This site will become an archive for the project, so please come back to see it as it grows.
